I. The First Major Application: Lifting and Hoisting - Core Load-bearing Components in Industry
This is the most classic and widespread application of steel wire ropes, with the core function being to bear vertical / oblique heavy loads, enabling the lifting, moving, and transportation of heavy objects. The core requirements are high breaking strength, resistance to impact, and structural stability, suitable for all scenarios requiring "lifting, hoisting, and transporting", and it is also the core manifestation of the mechanical properties of steel wire ropes. Core Application Areas Construction (tower cranes, construction elevators, gantry cranes), ports and docks (shore cranes, gantry cranes, container lifts), metallurgy and mining (cranes, mine hoisting machines), logistics and warehousing (cranes, aerial lifts), construction machinery (crane trucks, crawler cranes, truck-mounted cranes). Applicable Types of Steel Wire Ropes Mainstream choices are 6×19FC/6×19IWRC (6 strands, 19 strands, organic core / metal core), for heavy loads / high-temperature conditions (such as metallurgy, mine hoisting) the metal core (IWRC) must be selected, providing resistance to compression and high-temperature endurance; for large-tonnage lifting, 8×19S (line contact) can be chosen, with better anti-fatigue and wear resistance. Key Process Right cross-twist (ZS) is adopted to prevent wire breakage, the surface is treated with hot galvanizing / smooth phosphating to enhance wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and anti-wear lubricating grease is filled during twisting to reduce friction between wires and avoid breakage due to impact during lifting. II. The Second Major Application: Traction and Transmission - Power Transmission and Motion Control The core function is to transmit power and drive equipment to perform reciprocating / circular motion. The core requirements are good flexibility, resistance to bending fatigue, and precise transmission. Different from the "static / low-speed heavy load" of lifting and hoisting, in this application, steel wire ropes are mostly subjected to high-speed, repeated bending, and continuous force, with much higher fatigue performance requirements than tensile strength. Core Application Areas Elevator traction (core component for elevator car lifting), cable cars (traction ropes and load-bearing ropes for passenger / freight ropeways), construction machinery (hydraulic lead traction of excavators, loaders), urban rail transit (some urban rail transit's traction and braking), amusement equipment (traction control for roller coasters, Ferris wheels). Applicable Types of Steel Wire Ropes Elevator-specific 8×19S/8×25Fi (line contact, organic core), the ultra-flexible structure is suitable for repeated bending of traction wheels; used for ropeways, 6×37W/18×7 (face contact / multi-strand), balancing flexibility and anti-torsion strength; for small-scale transmission, 7×7 (fine-diameter soft rope), suitable for repeated motion in small spaces. |
